Four Substitutes to Change up Regular Baking
Do you enjoy baking yummy desserts but are trying to cut down on some calories? You can make a healthier version of your baked delights if you follow these four baking substitutes.
Instead of butter…
Try using avocado or banana instead of butter. Butter is extremely heavy and unhealthy and seems to make an appearance in every baking recipe. To make your cake just perfect, avocado and banana are two healthier substitutes. Just mash either of the two, swap it for butter and embrace the fact that the calories just dropped down!
Instead of oil…
Try using Greek yogurt instead of oil to help reduce the fat content in baked goods. Just drain the extra liquid from the yogurt and add the same amount that is required for the oil. Follow the rest of the recipe and enjoy a healthier and fat free cake.
Instead of cooking spray…
Use olive oil instead of cooking spray. Why go out and buy cooking spray when you have olive oil in the cupboards at home? No need to worry, once your item is baked, it won’t taste anything like olive oil. So next time you go to grease your baking tray, go ahead and use a spoonful of wholesome oil and you’ll never want to use cooking spray ever again.
Instead of all-purpose flour…
Use whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose flour. All-purpose flour or Maida is unhealthy and does no good for your digestive tract so try to use wheat flour instead. It might change the texture of your baked goods but it will still turn out delicious and healthier!
