Do you get sick of baking with mainly chocolate and vanilla flavors? Are you tired of doing different variations of red velvet desserts?

Shake up your summer bakery menu by baking with fresh fruit.

Customers will love to see a new, healthy spin on their favorite items. Plus, you’ll have tons of baked good options when you’re mixing fresh and fruity ingredients.

Fresh Take

Fresh fruit goes great in breads, cakes, and pastries. Fruits are naturally sweet, and they add a delicious flavor into whatever they’re added into. One of the best ways to use fresh fruit to bake this season is by creating fruit tarts. Using frozen fruits with fruit tarts often creates an overly-watery tart, but fresh fruit typically achieve a perfect texture. You can create full-size and bite-size tarts that will tempt all of your customers.

Healthy Sugar Substitute

If you have a more health-conscious customer base, you can use fruit instead of refined sugar in almost all of your recipes. Bananas, apples, pears, pineapples, dates, figs, mangoes, papaya, and even pumpkin can be used in place of sugar. Advertise the healthier options, and let your customers know that they taste just as good as the full-sugar items.

Fruit and Chocolate

There probably isn’t a fruit out there that wouldn’t taste good with chocolate—so mix up your usual cupcake and cake flavors, and add in strawberry cream cheese frosting or blueberry compote filling. Go crazy with dates, apricots, and more, to create fruity fresh flavors. (Anyone want a slice of chocolate-orange cake right about now? Yes, please!)

Breakfast

If your bakery doesn’t already have a few fruit-aimed breakfast options, consider adding some new items to the menu: banana bread, lemon muffins, apricot croissants, or apple turnovers. Delicious!
